Very rare Stones private pressing...
THE ROLLING STONES - STONE'S CLASSICS
The Rolling Stones live in Hyde Park on 5th June 1969, their first gig after Brian Jones' passing. This is definitely a classic recorded from the side live recording, not a professional soundboard job. But it plays through well and loud, especially Mick's vocals and gives you the feeling of almost being at the bar at a small venue whilst the Stones play to an intimate but still rowdy crowd.
Tracks:
A1 - Eulogy for Brian Jones
A2 - Lemon Squeezer
A3 - Jumpin' Jack Flash
A4 - Have Mercy
A5 - Stray Cat Blues
A6 - No Expectations
B1 - I'm Free
B2 - Down Home Girl
B3 - Love in Vain
B4 - Give Me A Drink (Loving Cup)
B5 - Honky Tonk Woman
Sleeve grades VG. The place I got this from called it VG+...I'm not that forgiving. Yes the shrink is still over the sleeve but its corners are all rounded and the opening is fairly worn and it's a thick cardboard but it's a little wonky in the lower right corner like it was wet at some point. Overall it's in good shape as you can see from the pictures.
Vinyl grades... bear with me for an explanation... G+ overall. Side 1 played through VG+ plus for me, I listened twice to make sure. Side 2 I'm getting a needle drop or quick skip at the beginning of the side, a couple pops in the middle, and *maybe* a skip toward the end of Honky Tonk woman. I listened to the whole side through 4 times and a couple of the portions probably a dozen times. The needle drop/skip is definitely there and what downgrades this to G+ overall, otherwise I'd probably call it a VG because of the pops. The first couple times I got the skip at the end of B5 but then it disappeared so I can't really tell you how it's gonna play for you, it might play really well and closer to a VG+, or you might get a couple skips and some crackle.
I don't think you'll be disappointed given what it is (and remember the recording quality is what it is which makes it a bit tough to differentiate between the nuances of live recordings and vinyl deficiencies...). Visually you'll get some light scratches and hairlines/surface marks, some are visible to the naked eye and some take bright light to see. They really don't seem to interfere with the playback, except maybe that's what is causing the couple pops I hear quickly in the middle of side 2.
Oh, also...the labels...I think they were originally plain white and the previous owner wrote on them with marker, well now that marker has bled presumably from getting wet. Doesn't impact play, just is what it is...maybe some people think that adds character [guy shrugging emoji]
Any questions please let me know. Thanks for looking.
