Recorded in a stone barn in Andalusia, Spain, Boomerang (1989) is the celebrated second album from The Creatures—the adventurous duo of Siouxsie Sioux and Budgie.A drastic departure from the "armor" of the Banshees, this record strips away the gothic density to reveal a lush, unsettling landscape of exotica, flamenco rhythms, and brassy jazz. From the rhythmic bite of "Standing There" to the bluesy noir of "Killing Time" (later a favorite of Jeff Buckley), Boomerang remains a crowning achievement of experimental art-pop and "savannah-sunset" instrumentation.
