Get ready for a high-fidelity trip through the lo-fi underground with The Sharp Pins’ 2024 standout, Radio DDR. The brainchild of Chicago’s own Kai Slater (of Lifeguard and Hallogallo fame), this album is a masterclass in home-recorded brilliance, blending the fuzzy warmth of 60s garage rock with the jagged, inventive spirit of 90s indie-pop. From the infectious, jangling hooks of "Something To Say" to the driving, tape-saturated energy of "I’m Not The One," Slater crafts a sonic world that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly immediate. It’s a record that celebrates the art of the song, stripped of pretense and bursting with melodic ingenuity. For fans of Guided By Voices, The Clean, or the classic Flying Nun roster, Radio DDR is an essential addition to your collection—a gritty, gorgeous reminder of why the DIY spirit remains the heart of rock and roll.
