Recorded live over two nights at Tokyo’s Nippon Budokan in early 1978 and released in the US in April 1979, Bob Dylan At Budokan captures a major reinvention of Bob Dylan’s core catalog. Backed by a grand 11-piece touring band complete with brass, flute, pedal steel, and backing vocalists, Dylan delivers heavily restructured, big-band arrangements of his foundational work. The 22-track double live album includes transformed renditions of iconic compositions such as "Mr. Tambourine Man," "Shelter From The Storm," "Like A Rolling Stone," and "Knockin' On Heaven's Door."1
979 US release by Columbia, catalog # PC2 36067. PROMOTIONAL copy of double album (2xLP) with white "Demonstration Not For Sale" label and radio station timing strips on front cover. Pressed at Terre Haute plant.
