BURNING BRIDES - FALL OF THE PLASTIC EMPIRE
Prepare to be flattened by the massive, fuzz-drenched riffs of Burning Brides’ 2001 debut, Fall of the Plastic Empire. A tectonic shift in the early 2000s rock landscape, this album is a relentless fusion of 70s stadium swagger and 90s grunge grit. Led by the ferocious guitar work and gravelly vocals of Dimitri Coats, the Brides delivered an unapologetic middle finger to the polished pop of the era. From the psychedelic, slow-burn tension of "Arctic Snow" to the high-velocity punch of "Plank of Wood," the record is a masterclass in raw, analog power. It’s an essential artifact for fans of Queens of the Stone Age or Nirvana—a high-fidelity explosion of garage-rock fury that sounds like a vintage Marshall stack pushed to the absolute breaking point.
2002 US first pressing (technically there was a 2001 pressing on translucent beer/orange marble vinyl that is exceptionally rare, but 2002 was the initial major release on vinyl) on limited edition blue vinyl. There were 100 copies pressed on white vinyl, 900 copies pressed on blue vinyl (this version), and a standard black vinyl edition was also pressed. Released by Buddyhead, catalog # buddyhead #9, barcode #763361980915.
Sleeve grades VG+. Almost "like new" condition, there are very minor dings to the corners. The shrink wrap remains over the album cover except the opening. The original custom inner sleeve is included in excellent condition.
Vinyl grades VG+. Plays through with no issues or deficiencies. While it's difficult to spot surface marks on many colored vinyls, this appears to be very clean with maybe 3-4 light surface marks visible under direct light and magnification, none of which have any impact on playback.
