CHICAGO - CHICAGO III

Experience the sprawling, experimental brilliance of a band at the peak of its creative powers with Chicago III. Released in 1971, this ambitious double album is a masterclass in genre-defying fusion, seamlessly blending hard-hitting rock, intricate jazz arrangements, and soulful Americana. From the heavy, socially conscious groove of "Free" to the ambitious, multi-part suites like "Elegy" and "Travel Suite," the record showcases the incredible musicianship and tight-knit horn sections that made Chicago a global powerhouse. This isn't just an album; it's a panoramic journey through the musical landscape of the early 70s, captured with the warmth and dynamic range that only vintage vinyl can provide. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, Chicago III remains a vital, adventurous cornerstone of the band's legacy that rewards every deep listen.

1971 US first pressing, released by Columbia, catalog # C2 30110.  Double album (2xLP) pressed at Santa Maria with gatefold cover.

Sleeve grades VG.  Nearly VG+ but a seams are weak/starting to come apart (maybe 1 cm) at the opening of the rear gatefold.  Rest of seams/spine in great condition.  Corners retain shape but are softened, some edgewear present, minor ringwear.  Original inner sleeves are included but have seam splits.

Vinyl play grades VG.  Mostly plays VG+ throughout, but there are a couple spots with some surface noise that plays behind the music. Vinyl is pretty clean visually but has some light surface marks/scratches that don't really impact playback except for the aforementioned light surface noise in a couple spots.  Overall a great playing first press copy of this 55 year old album.
