KING CRIMSON - IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING (AN OBSERVATION BY KING CRIMSON)

Own the definitive, earth-shaking sonic blueprint of progressive rock history with this legendary 1969 UK first-era pressing of In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson. Carrying the holy-grail A2 / B3 matrix stampers in its dead wax, this monumental analog document preserves the unparalleled room dynamics and soaring symphonic layers of the band's debut exactly as it was meant to be experienced. The wide, high-velocity British grooves unleash a breathtaking wall of sound—driving flawlessly from the terrifying, proto-metal jazz fusion and blistering saxophone explosions of "21st Century Schizoid Man" to the fragile, tape-delayed Mellotron waves and majestic flute solos of "Epitaph" and the title track. Complete with its iconic, bone-chilling Barry Godber gatefold artwork and vintage Island Records center labels, this meticulously preserved UK artifact is a crowning, museum-tier centerpiece for any elite progressive rock archivist or serious vinyl collector.

1969 UK import/release by Island Records, catalog # ILPS-9111.  A2/B3 runout matrices first pressing with pink Island labels with lowercase "i" logo.

Scrapbook covers mid-1969 into 1970 with original newspaper clippings and the like covering the band plus articles mentioning other popular bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Who, Bob Dylan, etc.

Also includes a King Crimson band photograph print by Peter Kent; photo in poor condition.

Sleeve grades VG.  Color/finish are very good and spine/seams are almost fully intact except two tiny splits on top of back gatefold.  Corners are softened/rounded and there's a good amount of edgewear.  Minor ring wear, mostly evident when looking for it.  Inner gatefold in great condition and shows the "Printed and made by E. J. Day, London" stamp below the lowercase "i" logo with a basis street london w11 address.  Original inner sleeve included.

Vinyl grades VG.  Pretty clean vinyl but has its share of light surface marks/scratches/hairlines.  Play testing yielded high quality audio that often plays VG+ but there are moments of static/crackle behind the music and some light clicks on B side.  Labels are pristine.
