GUNS N' ROSES - APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION
Acquire a spectacular, elite-tier rock-and-roll investment piece with this 1987 US Allied Record Company "Second Issue" original pressing of Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction. Highly coveted by variant completionists, this rare pressing represents the final, brief production window before the original Robert Williams "Rape Scene" front cover was banned from retail shelves forever. While preserving the legendary, uncensored artwork on the front, this specific late-1987 pressing features the corrected back-cover typography, completely eliminating the famous early "Vicals/Vogals" spelling errors. Complete with the original GHS 24148 printed inner lyric sleeve and the authentic Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) Allied "A" hallmarks in the dead wax, this stunning analog powerhouse delivers an unfiltered, hard-hitting sonic experience of the greatest debut album in rock history.
Promotional copy of US first pressing with uncensored cover art by Robert Williams, released by Geffen Records and Uzi Suicide, catalog # GHS 24148, barcode #075992414814. Allied Pressing with "B-27798 / B-27799" etched in runouts. Inner sleeve has GHS 24148 catalog number in lower right under lyrics, not XXXG 24148, making it the first variant where the back cover typos were corrected but the front cover remains uncensored. There is no embossed A on the labels.
Sleeve grades VG+. Excellent color/finish/gloss. Corners are softened but shapely. Some edgewear but seams/spine are intact and good condition. Some minor/small horizontal creases along the spine. A noticeable crease in upper right front. Original paper inner sleeve is present in good condition; intact but shows some wrinkling, ring wear and has seam splits. Gold promotional stamp on front cover, lower left corner.
Vinyl grading - this disc plays fantastic except a couple minor clicks primarily in the first 10 seconds of lead-in to Side G. There's a light scratch in the first track causing some clicks during the lead-in/buildup to "Welcome to the Jungle" -- I timed it with a stopwatch it's 10 seconds until it gets LOUD and you no longer hear them -- if you're listening specifically for it you may notice another one or two between 10-25 seconds in. After that, the remainder of Side G and all of Side R play perfectly with no issues or deficiencies. Because of the few clicks leading into the first side, the vinyl is graded VG.
