RACHEL SWEET - ...AND THEN HE KISSED ME

1981 release by Columbia, catalog # ARC 37077, barcode #07464370771.  Pressed at Terre Haute plant.  This is the first US pressing edition and includes such well known tunes as "Shadows of the Night" (later covered more famously by Pat Benatar), "Then He Kissed Me / Be My Baby" and "Everlasting Love", a duet with Rex Smith.

Early 1980s vocal pop rock at its finest, with a little country twang... Rachel Sweet began her singing career at age 3, winning a local talent contest for "I'm a Little Dutch Girl", she began doing commercials at age 6 and toured with Mickey Rooney and opened for Bill Cosby at the age of 12.   She began recording country music in 1974 but only had one minor hit and switched to rock, signing with Stiff Records and releasing her first album, Fool Around, in 1978.  The album was a critical success.  She later signed with Columbia records and released this subject album as her third album in 1981.  Fun fact, her version of "Shadows of the Night" on this album pre-dates by about a year the more famous version of the song by Pat Benatar.  The original version, composed by D.L. Byron for the 1980 film Times Square, was recorded by Helen Schneider.
