The Move have the distinction of being one of the most popular UK bands that never really became very successful in the U.S.  This is the first UK pressing of their first studio album, released in 1968.  They were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1965.  The original line-up comprised lead guitarist Roy Wood (also member and co-founder of Electric Light Orchestra and Wizzard), singer Carl Wayne (also of The Vikings and joined/performed with The Hollies 2000-2004), rhythm guitarist Trevor Burton (also of the Everglades), bassist Chris "Ace" Kefford and drummer Bev Bevan (also drummer and original member of Electric Light Orchestra and ELO Part II and also drummer for Black Sabbath during the Born Again Tour).  Guitarist/singer/songwriter Jeff Lynne (also of the Idle Race and Electric Light Orchestra) joined in 1970.  The Move scored nine top 20 UK singles in five years, but were among the most popular British bands of the 1960s and 1970s not to achieve major success in the United States.

The Move evolved from several mid-1960s Birmingham-based groups, including Carl Wayne & The Vikings, the Nightriders and the Mayfair Set.  Their name referred to the move various members of these bands made to form the group.  During their time together, the band released four studio albums, two compilation albums, one live extended play and 18 singles.  After their first two singles, "Night of Fear" and "I Can Hear the Grass Grow" hit number 2 and number 5, respectively, on the UK singles chart, the band released their self-titled debut (this album) in 1968, which hit #15 on the UK Official Albums Chart and garnered two more top 10 singles, "Flowers in the Rain" and "Fire Brigade".  After 1968, the band would have three more top 10 singles in the UK, including the #1 hit "Blackberry Way".  The band broke up in 1972 but by that time Wood, Lynne and Bevan had developed a side project called Electric Light Orchestra, which would go on to achieve major international success and be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The sleeve grades VG+.  Seams/spine are intact and strong, minimal edgewear, corners have softened but maintain shape, and color/gloss and laminate are in great shape.  There are a couple crease marks and a light touch of ring wear detracting from the overall condition.

The vinyl play grades Strong VG+ or better (our highest grade for uséd vinyl).  The disc plays perfectly and looks perfect as well, with pristine, unscathed labels.  There are some light surface marks/scratches and hairlines upon inspection under direct bright light, but none of that impacts play back.  This is an extremely high quality looking and playing vinyl disc that is almost 60 years old at this point.
