The Golden Spike is the debut studio album by the Leeds-based indie rock trio Sky Larkin.  Produced by John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney, Los Campesinos!), the album is a standout example of late-2000s UK indie-pop mixed with American college rock energy.  The title is an historical reference to the final spike driven into the first transcontinental railroad in the US, symbolizing the completion of the band's journey.  The album is defined by Katie Harkin's distinctive guitar playing and her melodic vocals and the rhythm section provides a driving energy that keeps the songs urgent.  Critics compare the record to 90s indie icons like Pavement, The Breeders and Sleater-Kinney, but with a distinctly British lyrical wit.
