Issued in early 1987 as the final major single from their MCA tenure and the Anything album sessions, The Damned’s dramatic reimagining of Love’s 1967 psychedelic classic "Alone Again Or" highlights the band’s mid-80s gothic-rock and neo-psychedelic zenith. Fronted by Dave Vanian’s commanding, velvet croon and embellished with sweeping flamenco brass and lush production courtesy of Jon Kelly, this 12" maxi-single expands the A-side with the extended "Mixed Again" mix alongside thunderous live cuts recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in November 1986 ("In Dulce Decorum" and "Psychomania"). Encased in striking, high-contrast monochrome artwork styled by The Leisure Process with photography by Nick Knight, GRIMT 7 captures the dark, theatrical grandeur that defined The Damned's post-punk evolution.
