THE CARS - CANDY-O
Dive back into the sleek, high-octane definitive era of New Wave with The Cars’ masterpiece sophomore album, Candy-O. Released in 1979 under the masterful production of Roy Thomas Baker, this record flawlessly balances power-pop precision with the raw, driving edge of rock and roll. Featuring timeless, hook-laden anthems like "Let's Go" and "It's All I Can Do," alongside the brooding title track, Candy-O remains a masterclass in synths, sharp guitar riffs, and unforgettable melodies. Complete with its iconic, pin-up cover art painted by legendary artist Alberto Vargas, this album isn't just a listening experience—it’s an essential piece of rock history that belongs in every serious vinyl collection.
1979 US release by Elektra, catalog #5E-507. First pressing from Specialty plant with RTB (Roy Thomas Baker) initials in runouts; no artist/title on the front cover. Track B5 listed as "Dangerous Type" on back cover, "The Dangerous Type" on inner sleeve tracklist.
Sleeve grades VG+. Slight corner dings, minor creases along spine and in upper left and upper right (hard to notice on the white cover; more noticeable on the back); a couple minor stain/spots on the front if you're looking for them. Not an archive quality cover, but meets the VG+ grading criteria and should satisfy most people looking for a high quality first pressing of this album. Includes the original inner sleeve in good condition but has two small seam splits and some ringwear.
Vinyl grades VG+. Plays through with no issues or deficiencies. There are some hairlines/insertion marks on both sides of the vinyl, mostly visible under direct light/magnification - nothing that impacts the playback quality.
