Eagles On The Border 1974 US 1st Press VG/VG+ Textured Sleeve
EAGLES - ON THE BORDER
Ride the pivotal, transitional line where country-rock hardened into arena-ready classic rock with the original 1974 US first pressing of the Eagles’ third studio album, On the Border. Released via Asylum Records, this initial manufacturing block captures a band in the middle of a major identity shift. Frustrated by the polite, polished country-folk production of Glyn Johns in London, the band abruptly halted tracking and decamped to Los Angeles to enlist producer Bill Szymczyk. The move brought a much tougher, more aggressive twin-guitar attack—solidified by the mid-session hiring of guitarist Don Felder. Packed with signature hits like the roaring opener "Already Gone", the rebellious "James Dean", and their first-ever Billboard number one single, "The Best of My Love", this original run features a beautiful, matte-textured outer jacket showcasing a Native American-style border painting by artist Beatian Yazz. An essential cornerstone of 1970s Southern California rock history, this first pressing includes a massive, multi-panel fold-out poster insert.
1974 US release by Asylum, catalog #7E-1004. First pressing made at Santa Maria plant. Label variation with no Warner Bros. in rim text and catalog # on left side and CSM in runouts. Textured, matte sleeve.
