This issue features an in-depth interview with The Dismemberment Plan (late-90s indie/emo/post-hardcore band), a major spotlight piece on the late Sarah Jacobsen (DIY filmmaker known as the "Queen of Underground Cinema" and a key figure in 1990s riot grrrl, punk and guerrilla filmmaking), staff picks of the best releases of 1996, and a variety of other articles and era advertisements.  Also contains staff picks on the 96-97 NBA season for some reason.

Other notable artists seen inside include Less Than Jake, Against All Authority, Descendents, Poison Idea, T.S.O.L., Screeching Weasel, Dwarves, and The Meatmen.  A variety of various artist compilations are advertised and/or reviewed also.
