Re-engage with the razor-sharp precision of Sunderland’s premier post-punk revivalists with the 2019 vinyl release of The Futureheads' Powers. Marking their triumphant return following a seven-year studio hiatus, this self-released effort was issued via the band’s independent Nul Records imprint. The 12-track record showcases the group's signature sonic architecture: hyper-frenetic tempos, heavy staccato guitar riffs, and intricate, four-part vocal harmonies. Produced by the band alongside Dave Curle at First Avenue Studios and mixed by Thomas Mitchener, the album balances explosive post-punk bursts like "Jekyll" and "Animus" against the propulsive, hook-heavy drive of "Good Night Out". Art directed by the band's own guitarist Ross Millard, this original British layout tracks a mature, re-energized collective asserting their sonic identity in the modern independent landscape.
