SAFE AS MILK #1 - UK PUNK ZINE (Published c. 1979)
Step directly into the gritty, counter-culture trenches of the 1979 British post-punk underground with an authentic original copy of Safe as Milk Fanzine (Issue #1). Named in honor of Captain Beefheart’s experimental masterpiece, this incredibly scarce debut issue stands as a magnificent, tactile monument to the UK's DIY print revolution. Masterfully constructed using raw, cut-and-paste typewriter typography and high-contrast photocopied band artwork, this side-stapled time capsule captures the exact moment punk fractured into new wave, post-punk, and independent industrial movements. Packed with cynical scene reports, unfiltered record reviews, and localized London gig diaries, it delivers a level of historical grit that mainstream music magazines could never replicate. Entirely free from modern digital revisionism, this beautifully preserved print artifact is an absolute, non-negotiable trophy centerpiece for any serious punk historian, alternative music archivist, or vintage zine collector.
Original copy of "Safe As Milk 1" in great condition. Covers bands such as The Fall, Buzzcocks, The Boys, The Skids, Stiff Little Fingers, and Cash Pussies, among others. Really well preserved and clean, just showing some aging discoloration. Has the original side staples though the last page has detached (it's still included, just not attached to the staples anymore).
